Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Instructions
1. Rinse and pat dry strawberries. Ensure that they’re quite dry or the chocolate won’t adhere.
2. Insert a small skewer (they’re a bit easier to handle than toothpicks if you have got them) into the top of each strawberry.
3. In the top of the a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening with each other, mixing until very smooth. Don’t permit the water in the bottom part pot touch the bottom part of the top pan.
4. Holding the strawberries by the toothpick or skewer, dip the berries into the chocolate mixture.
5. Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into a block of Styrofoam or an inverted egg container for the chocolate in order to cool and set.
